We support Walthew House

Walthew House has been our Charity of the Year since 2011. Every year, our team vote for a local charity to support and Walthew House always gets our vote.

Throughout the year we organise weekly dress down days, cake days and sports event. We always enjoy our regular visits from the charity who often bring their latest puppy guide dog recruit!

We recognise that supporting a local charity and really understanding how it operates and the difference it makes to the local community can help to raise funds throughout the year.

From their premises around the corner from us in Shaw Heath, Walthew House have been working tirelessly to support people in Stockport with a sight or hearing loss since 1882. The charity has a range of services and activities, including a not for profit equipment resource centre, weekly social groups catered specifically for the needs of each person, youth club, counselling service, and more. If anybody has a problem relating to sight or hearing loss in Stockport, Walthew House is there to support them.

The Booth Ainsworth team have visited the centre on many occasions and are overcome by the dedication from the staff and volunteers, who work hard to make Walthew a friendly, welcoming and accessible community hub for their service users, and also a range of other community groups and charities.

Beechwood Cancer Care

At Booth Ainsworth we support a number of charities with their fundraising initiatives. In addition to our regular fundraising for Walthew House, we champion an annual quiz in aid of Beechwood Cancer Care which takes place at Edgeley Park. We raise on average £5,000 for the cause every year which has amounted to over £70,000 over the years. We have also supported St Ann’s Hospice in the past and on one occasion in 2013 raised over £8,000 for the charity.

Our charity quiz has been in operation since 2001 and has become a corporate ‘hot ticket’ in the social calendar of local business owners, bankers and legal teams, many of whom are the firm’s clients. Every year we attract up to 300 local professionals.

As a result of our fundraising efforts Beechwood were able to channel the money raised into building the Silver Wing unit. The unit provides patients with a lovely dining room, lounge area and a coffee shop.

We are tremendously proud of our commitment to Walthew House and Beechwood Cancer Care, both local charities and both deserving.
