Mike qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1982 after training with Binder Hamlyn in Manchester, where he became a Manager and was involved with a wide variety of clients, including public companies and privately owned businesses. He has particular experience in the publishing, textile and construction industries. During this period he was seconded to the Sydney office of Binder Hamlyn's Australian associate.

After leaving Binder Hamlyn, he moved to Booth Ainsworth and was appointed a partner in 1992. Michael is an audit partner, concentrating on the owner-managed business sector and also has considerable experience in forensic work.

In his spare time Mike plays golf.
